The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a notice to Devireddy Siva Sankar Reddy (A-5), a key accused in the murder case of former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy. He has been directed to appear for questioning at the ED office in Hyderabad on Monday as part of the ongoing money laundering investigation. Siva Sankar Reddy is reportedly considered close to Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and his father, Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy. Dastagiri, an accused-turned-approver in the case, had earlier told the CBI that Yerragangi Reddy allegedly spoke about a proposed payment of ₹40 crore for the murder, of which ₹5 crore would be given to him. These claims are part of the allegations being examined in the case. The ED is investigating the source of the alleged payments, including whether Siva Sankar Reddy had the financial capacity to arrange such a large amount and who may have funded the money. The agency is also examining the financial transactions of the accused and the alleged advance payments made in connection with the murder. The ED has already questioned other accused in the case, including Yerragangi Reddy, Shaik Dastagiri, Umashankar Reddy and Sunil Yadav, to gather information related to suspected money laundering. Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy has also been summoned for questioning on the 14th of this month. The notice to Siva Sankar Reddy, issued two days before Avinash Reddy's scheduled questioning, has drawn attention in the ongoing investigation. The CBI had previously alleged that Siva Sankar Reddy played a significant role in the alleged conspiracy, including planning the murder, spreading the claim that Vivekananda Reddy had died of a heart attack, destroying evidence and influencing witnesses. He was arrested in connection with the case and spent several months in jail before being released on bail. The ED is now closely examining financial transactions that took place before and after the murder to trace the alleged payment trail and determine the source of the funds.
