Alpine Ibex vs Lynx, Wolves and Eagle: Born on a Cliff | Wildlife Documentary

A newborn Alpine ibex takes its first steps on a ledge with a long drop below. Over one year, this calf must learn what the cliffs teach: where to stand, how to climb, and when to stay perfectly still. Follow a dramatized year in the Alps, from a June birth through the shadow of a golden eagle, a stalking lynx, a wolf pack waiting at the foot of the wall, and a winter storm that tests the whole herd. Along the way, see how hooves, balance and herd routes let ibex live where few animals can follow, and why the story of this species is also a story of near loss and protection. The ending returns to where it all began. ABOUT THE ALPINE IBEX The Alpine ibex (Capra ibex) is a wild mountain goat of the European Alps. It lives on steep, rocky slopes. Males carry large curved horns, while females and young gather in herds. In the 1800s the species was pushed to the edge of extinction, and protection and reintroduction later helped bring it back across the Alps.
