🔥 *INT REACTS TO LOVEBITES – “Holy War” LIVE at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020!* 🔥 This is my *FIRST TIME HEARING “HOLY WAR”* and after my first LOVEBITES reaction, the fans made one thing VERY clear: *“YOU NEED TO WATCH THEM LIVE!”* So here we are… and musically? *HOLY WAR HAS IT ALL.* 🤘🔥 🥁 FAST drums 🎸 Insanely precise guitars 🔥 Driving bass 🎤 AMAZING live vocals ⚡ Speed, power and musicianship everywhere Let me make something VERY clear because I know this opinion may ruffle some feathers: *I AM NOT SAYING THIS SONG IS BAD. AT ALL.* The song is AMAZING, and LOVEBITES delivered it *note-for-note on a silver platter.* My criticism is strictly about the *STAGE PRESENCE.* For a song this fast, aggressive and energetic, I expected the visual performance to match the intensity of the music. Instead, I thought the stage presence was surprisingly restrained, and for ME, that took something away from the overall live experience. I completely understand how ridiculously difficult this material is to perform. When you're playing parts this technical, adding movement can make an already difficult performance even harder. BUT… Sometimes I'd personally rather hear a performance that's *95% technically perfect with a wild, energetic stage show* than 100% perfect while everyone is mostly planted in place. That's a TRADE-OFF, and I realize other people may completely disagree with me. And that's OK! 😂 One thing I absolutely CANNOT criticize is the vocal performance. 🔥 *THE VOCALS WERE INCREDIBLE LIVE.* A lot of singers sound noticeably different live once you remove studio overdubs, punch-ins, processing, EQ, tuning and all the other tools available during recording. But Asami absolutely *CRUSHED IT.* That might have been one of the most impressive things about this entire performance. I also noticed several of the other members had microphones, but I didn't really hear the vocal harmonies/backing vocals I was hoping for. With music this huge, I would LOVE to hear more live harmonies adding another layer to those choruses. So YES… 🔥 The song is FIRE. 🔥 The musicianship is FIRE. 🔥 LOVEBITES proved they can absolutely deliver this stuff LIVE. But the *stage presence didn't match the intensity of the music for me.* Agree?
