Trust In The Lord (Psalm 37)

THE TESTIMONY BEHIND TRUST IN THE LORD (PSALM 37) An overarching theme of the past several years has been learning to remember God’s character, stand firm on His Word, & take Him at His Word. We need the Holy Spirit’s discernment to understand how Scripture applies today, but when He illuminates His Word, He gives us Truth to hold on to. We are living in critical days! We need this! Psalm 37 carries a timely message: Do not fret because of wickedness or fear when evil prospers. Trust in the Lord, continue doing good, be still in His presence, & wait patiently for Him to act. For much of my life, I did not expect God to intervene in our day. I knew final judgment would come, but I gave little thought to God acting now—to defend, discipline, expose, or bring justice. Yet He has changed my perspective. God is love, but vengeance still belongs to Him. He has not changed. “He removes kings & sets up kings” (Daniel 2:21). He allowed Babylon to rise for a season, but He also set its limits. Nations & rulers rise & fall under HIS sovereign authority. We do not have to be ruled by fear. We can trust Him! But trusting God also requires humility. God allows hardship to awaken & realign His people. I believe much of the Church has drifted off course, as it has many times throughout history. We have tolerated mixture, grown lukewarm, & tried to appease the world rather than influence it through the love & truth of Jesus. We have also become deeply divided. God is calling us to humble ourselves, repent, pray, fast, seek His face, & return WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Hardship does not mean God has abandoned us. Scripture does not promise that we will avoid trouble, persecution, or death. It promises that nothing can separate us from Christ’s love & that overwhelming victory is ours through Him (Romans 8:35–37). There may be weeping in the night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). God uses these seasons to purify, draw us closer, & prepare us. But the posture of our hearts in these days is critical! May we individually & corporately ask the Lord to search our hearts, awaken us from slumber, & reveal the logs in our eyes. Before pointing outward at others, we must allow Him to expose what is hidden within us. As the Spirit reveals, may we respond with humility & genuine repentance! This is also where we must address anger. Psalm 37 warns us not to allow anger & rage to cloud our hearts & minds. That is much easier said than done these days. When evil prospers & innocent people suffer, anger rises. But when it becomes rage, offense, or bitterness, it clouds our discernment, draws us away from Christ’s character, & leads us into deeper bondage, making us ineffective & weak! We must bring our anger to God, entrust justice to His hands, & ask the Holy Spirit to help us respond with courage, truth, wisdom, & love—His way! We cannot allow headlines, fear, outrage, or competing voices to interpret the times for us. We must search the Scriptures & listen to the Holy Spirit. His voice needs to be primary! This doesn’t mean we sit passively & do nothing. But we must remember who our true enemy is. People are not our true enemy; we do not wrestle against flesh & blood. We must stop fighting one another & recognize the spiritual forces of evil that enslave & destroy. Jesus came to break chains, heal broken hearts, & proclaim freedom to captives. He is inviting us to join Him in this work! He calls us to use the spiritual weapons He has given us & to be His hands & feet—loving the marginalized, caring for the downtrodden, & carrying His freedom into dark places. We must lay down offense & division & come together as one as we fight in His authority against our true enemy! I believe God is bringing hidden things into the light (Luke 8:17). Yet exposure is not an invitation to fear, rage, bitterness, or accusation. It calls us to search our own hearts, discern what God is doing in this season, & follow His lead. I included David & Goliath & Jehoshaphat’s battle in the video because both reveal what it means to trust the Lord when facing overwhelming opposition. David stepped forward in faith, knowing WHO fought for him & declaring, “The battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 17:45–47). Jehoshaphat sought the Lord, led the people in worship, & obeyed as God fought for them (2 Chronicles 20:3–22). Neither surrendered to fear or became passive. They obeyed, took their positions, & trusted God to do what only He could. We are called to that same faith! Our God is the same yesterday, today, & forever! He is still Lord over nations, circumstances, & every power of darkness! The battle ultimately belongs to Him! So let us trust in the Lord! Let us stand on His Word, depend on His Spirit, & refuse fear. Let us humble ourselves, repent, discern the season, turn from anger & rage, love one another, & unite in faith—confident that God is faithful, He is fighting for us, & He will act in His perfect way & time.
