In this Ten Talks session, we’re joined by Dawn Kidd, manager of the Áine Rose Foundation established in memory of her 19-year-old niece, Áine Rose Dawn shares the story behind the foundation and its work to raise awareness and support informed conversations around combined hormonal contraception. We explore the importance of risk assessment, monitoring, informed choice and listening to women when something doesn’t feel right. Dawn also discusses how charities and healthcare professionals can work together, bringing lived experience and clinical expertise together to help improve conversations and patient safety. The key message: take a moment to pause before prescribing and make sure patients understand the benefits, potential risks, available options and symptoms they should be aware of.
