In this session, Steve Kozlowski discusses the science of team effectiveness at length. Beginning with an overview of the fundamental forces in organizational systems and team functioning and effectiveness, Kozlowski then explores the emergent team processes (including cognitive, motivational, and behavioral processes) and interventions (including team design, training and development, and leadership) that can help enhance team processes and effectiveness. Kozlowski touches upon the complexity of science teams and how to address science team-specific challenges. He ends the session by providing an overview of leadership theory tools and concepts and their importance in science teams.
