For twenty-three years, the CIA paid physicists at a California research institute to teach people how to see places they had never been. The program was classified until 1995. Russell Targ helped build it. A laser physicist by training, Targ co-founded the remote viewing program at Stanford Research Institute in 1972 alongside Harold Puthoff. The funding came from the CIA, and later the DIA and Army intelligence. The work eventually operated under the name Stargate Project.
