After Devastating Accident, Young Man Gets Surprise of a Lifetime | George to the Rescue

After a life-changing snowboarding accident left 23-year-old Weston Greenwood with a devastating spinal cord injury, accessibility barriers prevented him from moving back in with his mother and brother after rehab. For over a year, he’s been waiting for the chance to return home. Now, thanks to the power of community, that long-awaited dream is finally within reach. To surprise Weston with the news that the 'George to the Rescue' crew was renovating his family’s home, the team arranged an elaborate ruse involving a visit to Eric LeGrand’s coffee shop. But the biggest surprise was yet to come! With help from his rehab best friend Larry Marquino, George Oliphant and the team set out to transform Weston's home with an accessible bathroom, ceiling lift, custom gaming and podcast studio, and a bedroom designed around his needs and personality. They even turned the snowboard involved in his accident into a one-of-a-kind light fixture! And because the whole family deserves a fresh start, Weston's mom, Carrie, received a beautiful bedroom makeover of her own. From greater independence to an unforgettable homecoming, this meaningful project was all about restoring Weston's independence, providing new possibilitiesfor him, and showing what can happen when a community comes together to make a difference.
