9 November 1989, 7 minutes to 7 in the evening. A tired party spokesman in East Berlin, Günter Schabowski, reads out a note he has not read before, and answers one question with one wrong word: immediately. Before midnight, the Berlin Wall is open. This Berlin Wall documentary follows the fall of the Berlin Wall hour by hour: the 4 officers who wrote the rule, the Italian reporter who asked the question, and the Stasi officer at Bornholmer Straße who had a growing crowd, a telephone and no orders. And it asks how the Berlin Wall really collapsed, and why the old border between East and West Germany can still be traced on the map today.
