Breath of the Wild Made Me a Zelda Fan

Breath of the Wild was my first Zelda game… and funny enough, I almost couldn’t get into it. When the Nintendo Switch launched in 2017, the idea of exploring a massive open Hyrule however I wanted immediately caught my attention. But without any nostalgia or connection to Zelda, Link, or Hyrule, it took several attempts before Breath of the Wild finally clicked for me. And once it did? I was hooked. In this video, I look back at my first journey through Hyrule, why BOTW’s exploration and physics-driven world impressed me so much, the things that drove me crazy (yes, weapon durability 😒), and how I somehow managed to finish the entire game without realizing I could upgrade my armor with the Great Fairies.
