Armidale Garbage & Green-Waste

In this upload we take a look at two of the trucks previously used for kerbside collections in the former Armidale Dumaresq Council. Today Cleanaway collects the garbage weekly and green-waste fortnightly, but prior to February 2012 JR Richards was the contractor for these two waste services. I’m not sure how long JR Richards had the Armidale contract for, but they were definitely running trucks there in the 1990s judging by a couple of old classics I saw situated in their local yard. As for the trucks being used during my first visit, the company was running three 4x2 Hino side loaders with finger plate lifters. The two trucks shown in this video originally worked in Clarence Valley on the north coast of NSW, with the garbage truck still featuring the old red paint work. I take it these Hinos started Armidale in mid 2007 once the Clarence contract before last finished, seeing that they were only part of the way through their potential lifetime. When I first visited Armidale I had no idea what to expect in terms of trucks, plus I didn’t expect to find comb lifters picking up these old tall 140L Sulo2s, but that’s exactly what I found! Anyway I combined footage of both the garbage and green-waste trucks in this single video, both seen on a sunny Friday morning on the northern edges of the regional city. Thanks to both drivers for being cool with the videos and I hope the action is enjoyed, starting off with a close-up of one lifter doing its thing.
