Uvira is back in focus as reports of fighting and military preparations raise concerns about a possible escalation in South Kivu, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. In this Kinyarwanda report, Rwanda Updates examines developments in the Ruzizi Plain, a source’s account of preparations involving FRN, Congolese government forces and Burundian troops, and the potential consequences for civilians. We also cover statements by Lawrence Kanyuka alleging drone strikes on Kuwihene in the Rugezi area and Point Zéro near Minembwe, alongside Rugabo Fidèle’s claims concerning Kuwamabuye and Gipimo. These statements represent their authors’ accounts and have not been independently verified by Rwanda Updates Media. No confirmed timetable for an attack on Uvira has been established. This report does not confirm an imminent capture of the city. EDITORIAL DISCLAIMER Rwanda Updates Media is committed to factual, balanced and responsible reporting.
