High up in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains, far from the bustle of the city, lives Grandma Anya. Here, her days are spent in daily labor, household chores, and the preservation of ancient Ukrainian traditions. 🏔️❤️ Today is a special day for Grandma—it’s time for the big preparation of cabbage for the winter. Since this is a difficult task to handle alone, her sister Olya, along with Yura, has come to help her. Together, they head to the vegetable garden, where they cut the cabbages, remove the outer leaves, and clean each head. Then, they bring everything into the house, prepare a large wooden tub, and wash it thoroughly. Yura gets to work shredding the cabbage, while Grandma Anya prepares everything for the traditional fermentation process. The cabbage is packed into the large tub, the necessary ingredients are added, and it is weighed down with heavy stones—this is exactly how our ancestors preserved cabbage. Grandma also makes delicious holubtsi (cabbage rolls) using fresh cabbage. ❤️ This is more than just preparing food for the winter; it is a true family tradition passed down from generation to generation.
