SC on ECI |Karnatak

The Supreme Court of India strongly reprimanded the Election Commission (ECI) after it admitted that the official video recording of the vote counting for Karnataka's Sringeri assembly constituency is missing. The SC slammed the EC, stating it will not accept "lame excuses" and warned of an 'adverse inference' if the footage is not produced by the next hearing. This controversy stems from the 2023 Karnataka elections, where a dispute over postal ballots led to a High Court-ordered recount. Watch this video for a detailed legal analysis of how the missing evidence has put the Election Commission's credibility at stake.
