Kimani Wanjohi, Huruma Ward MCA, says we will not allow strangers to occupy the new market to be opened by President William Ruto in Eldoret. The Huruma Ward MCA says original traders who were in the market must be given first priority before strangers occupy stalls in the new Eldoret market. In this video, Kimani Wanjohi, MCA for Huruma Ward in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, addresses traders in the market. He says it has been a song that people who were in the market will be given first priority in the new stalls. But recently, Kimani Wanjohi says they were shocked that people who were working in the market were told to go to a place called Kapsyoa for vetting, a place where traders say they don't get money. Some traders got pressure, others got depression, some lost stalls. Kimani Wanjohi reveals that over 1200 people were sent away from the market, while Huruma Ward was given only 20 slots for vetting. He opposes the vetting being done by bloggers of the governor instead of county government employees who know who was in the market. The MCA says the vetting was supposed to be done by Uasin Gishu County Government, not bloggers. He says traders who were there were chased away and told there is no room, while strangers and goons are being given positions in the new market to be opened by President William Ruto. Kimani Wanjohi insists: Let it be delayed but let original traders not participate? No. He demands all people who were removed must get space, including hawkers and those who work by the road. The market was opened so that everyone gets space.
