Konstantin Rokossovsky was imprisoned during Stalin's purges. Within a few years, he was commanding Soviet armies in some of the decisive battles of World War II.
At Stalingrad, he had to break an army already surrounded. At Kursk, he had to stop one before it broke through. At Bobruisk, he chose two converging attacks to turn German positions into a trap.
This episode follows three of his most revealing campaigns: Operation Ring, the northern Battle of Kursk, and the Bobruisk offensive during Operation Bagration. We examine how he concentrated the final assault at Stalingrad, denied Walter Model a breakthrough at Kursk, and used mobile forces to close the exits around Bobruisk.
The famous disagreement with Stalin is presented as Rokossovsky's later recollection, rather than an independently verified conversation.
