The Rule of 5 – Week 2: Small Steps, Big Lessons in Hospitality

Welcome back to A Word in Season! 🌿 In this video, I share my Week 2 review of the Rule of 5, a journey of seeking God, growing personally, and learning to become a more intentional and faithful steward of our short-term rental business. As I continue working through the five areas of humility, customer centricity, wisdom, knowledge and finance, I am discovering how small, consistent actions can bring important lessons to light. In this week's review, I reflect on: 🙏 HUMILITY: What I can improve as a leader, the importance of remaining teachable, and recognising those who help me grow. ❤️ CUSTOMER CENTRICITY: Understanding what guests need when they arrive, the little things that make a difference, and how to create a welcoming experience. 📚 KNOWLEDGE: Establishing clear housekeeping standards, checking that our beds are properly equipped, and paying attention to the details that contribute to a good night's rest and a positive guest experience. 🕊️ WISDOM: Recognising what I may be overlooking, considering the long-term consequences of decisions, and asking God for discernment before pursuing new opportunities. 💰 FINANCE: Exploring possible additional revenue opportunities, following through on issues that need attention, and taking practical steps towards better financial management. One of the important lessons I am learning is that awareness without action is incomplete stewardship. It is not enough to identify what needs attention; I must also take the necessary steps to address it. I am also learning that not every opportunity is necessarily the right opportunity. I need wisdom to recognise what aligns with the purpose of the business and how we can serve others while bringing glory to God. This is a personal journey of learning, reflection and practical action. I don't have everything figured out, but I am taking one step at a time and trusting God to guide me. 💬 LET'S TALK: What is one thing you have been overlooking because you are too close to it?
