In the final days of the Kingdom of Manipur, a young prince and military commander stood at the centre of a struggle that would change the history of the kingdom forever. Tikendrajit Singh, the Senapati - Commander-in-Chief of the Manipuri forces - became one of the most determined figures of the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891. When British imperial authority demanded submission, Tikendrajit chose resistance. The conflict brought war to Manipur. The kingdom was defeated, and its political independence was broken. Tikendrajit was captured and sentenced to death. On 13 August 1891, at Pheida-pung, the Imphal Polo Ground, Tikendrajit was publicly hanged. A prince became a prisoner. A commander became a condemned man. A kingdom became a memory. But history did not end there. The story of Tikendrajit survived in the memory of the people of Manipur - not simply as the story of a soldier, but as the story of a man who faced the end without surrendering his dignity. Bir Tikendrajit – The Last Senapati tells that story through old-school heavy metal - a journey through resistance, defeat, courage, and memory. Some histories are written in monuments. Some survive in books and some continue to breathe through the generations that remember them. This is history that still breathes.
