The independent autopsy found a focal area of deep subcutaneous discoloration at the back of Nolan's skull — and could not determine whether it was caused by decomposition or blunt force injury. Critical neck structures were retained by the state and unavailable for independent examination. No charges have been filed. No arrests have been made.
