At the end of the day, when I'm working with a client, I'm really helping them become themselves. Sometimes again. Sometimes for the first time. In this video I talk about what it means to live a life that's true to you, and why it's not your job to manage what everyone else thinks about it. I get into The Courage to Be Disliked (my brother handed it to me), the difference between people who are in your life for a reason, a season, or forever, and why I wear a t-shirt to client calls even when the client is formal. Because if you dress up to win someone and it works, you don't actually know who they hired. I also talk about how this shows up in business. Most of the service providers I work with have already bought the proven framework and found it didn't fit. What worked for me, and for them, was building a way of finding clients that feels like them: no scripts, no sleaze, just the right conversations with the right people. If you've ever held the dress shirt up to the mirror, this one's for you. 0:00 Living a life that's true to you 0:40 Why the universe waited until I was ready 3:05 Learning to listen to myself 3:55 The Courage to Be Disliked 4:50 Reasons, seasons, or forever 6:05 Doing no harm vs. managing everyone's feelings 6:45 Why I'm writing a book (and Glennon Doyle) 9:55 Shame, haters, and being you anyway 11:40 Why I wear a t-shirt on client calls 14:20 Consistent Client Conversions: how I work 17:15 The real estate broker and the golf course 19:15 Not everyone is your client (the leaky faucet test) 20:55 One client at a time, not more networking 22:45 What my clients actually want 23:45 Six spots opening this fall 25:00 Peace, a new baby, and a life true to you
