The Nor’easter was building, the wind was howling, and the surf at the Breachway was getting rough fast. Waves were literally swelling to around 10 feet, pushing large amounts of debris into the Breachway and making for some pretty challenging fishing conditions.
We headed out targeting striped bass with bucktail-style jigs and small paddle tails, hoping to find a fish feeding despite the rough water.
Christine ended up being the one to get it done, catching a striped bass on a chartreuse 3" JYG Chubby paddle tail. It was the only striper we caught, but under these conditions, one fish was definitely enough to put a smile on her face!
Sometimes fishing the fall run isn't about numbers—it's about being there when the conditions change and making the most of the opportunity.
Thanks for watching and following along with FillTheBoat!
God Bless and tight lines!
