Vocals & Creative Concept: Ekaterina Yaremchuk Historic Footprint — History Lives in Music Raise the Mary Rose Again In Portsmouth waters, the old bells ring, And the tide still whispers of a Tudor king. Beneath the Solent, where the cold waves close, For centuries slept the Mary Rose. She sailed for England, proud and strong, With cannon and banners, with drum and song. Henry’s colours above her flew, Her decks were crowded, her sailors true. Then out on the Solent one summer day, The wind came hard as she turned away. The sea rushed in, the great ship rolled, And down she went to the waters cold. Oh, raise the Mary Rose again, Raise her from the deep! Where the guns fell still and the sailors sleep, Where the Solent guards the secrets it keeps. Four hundred years beneath the foam, Now bring the Mary Rose back home! The seasons passed and the kingdoms changed, The shoreline moved and the world rearranged. Kings were crowned and empires were gone, But under the water she rested on. Her timber lay in the silent sand, Her story waiting for a human hand. A bowl, a shoe, a longbow string Small voices left from a vanished spring. Oh, raise the Mary Rose again, Raise her from the deep! Where the guns fell still and the sailors sleep, Where the Solent guards the secrets it keeps. Four hundred years beneath the foam, Now bring the Mary Rose back home! Divers below in the dark green sea, Working where no daylight could be. Timber by timber, rope by rope, History rising on cables of hope. Then came the morning, the whole world saw, An ancient hull from the seabed draw. Slowly she rose through the shining spray, Back to England and light of day. No Tudor guns will thunder now, No canvas flies from her weathered bow. But Portsmouth keeps what the ocean gave A wooden survivor from a sailor’s grave. Oh, raise the Mary Rose again, Raise her from the deep! Remember the men that the sea would keep. Let England hear their story told, Of sailors young and timbers old. From Tudor seas through the years unknown, The Mary Rose has come back home! Mary Rose… Mary Rose… The tide remembers where she lies. Mary Rose… Mary Rose… Raised from the sea beneath English skies.
