About the Composition: About the Artist: Vidwan Lalgudi GJR Krishnan is a leading Carnatic violinist and a torchbearer of the illustrious Lalgudi musical tradition. Son and disciple of Padma Bhushan Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, he is known for his pristine raga alapana, soulful bhava, and adherence to classicism. Along with his sister Dr. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, he has performed extensively across the globe and is celebrated for carrying forward the Lalgudi bani with purity and depth. Over 1,500 students and teachers from across India and abroad came together for this week-long cultural immersion. About Composer Lalgudi G. Jayaraman: Padma Bhushan Lalgudi G. Jayaraman was one of the greatest violinists, composers and torchbearers of Carnatic music. He created a unique style - the Lalgudi Bani - known for its vocal-like expression, lyrical beauty and rhythmic precision. He composed many varnams, thillanas and kritis that are now concert staples.
