Future Opportunities Utilizing ASM for Method Standardization, Interoperability, and Automation Presented by: Andy Sasaki, General Manager – R&D Center, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (Shimadzu) Minoru Namikawa, Software Liaison, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (Shimadzu) Masahiro Takeda, Software Engineer, IT Solutions Business Unit, Shimadzu Corporation (Shimadzu) As analytical laboratories continue to advance digitalization and automation, there is increasing interest in representing analytical methods in a structured, machine-readable format. In this PoC study, selected LC method parameters were defined in JSON format and converted into a CDS LC method. The work demonstrates the feasibility of digital method representation and provides insights into future opportunities utilizing ASM for method standardization, interoperability, and automation. Andy Sasaki is the General Manager of R&D at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments. He has over 30 years of experience working with Shimadzu to develop software, automation, and workflow solutions for customers and collaborators spanning many industries such as pharma/bio-pharma, clinical, and academia. To further drive technologies, Andy participates in consortiums such as the Enabling Technologies Consortium (ETC), Allotrope Foundation, and OPC. Minoru Namikawa is a Software Liaison between Shimadzu Corporation in Japan and Shimadzu Scientific Instruments R&D in the U.S. He leads Allotrope Foundation activities, laboratory automation, and collaborative projects. Masahiro Takeda is a software engineer. He develops Allotrope Data Converter in Japan.
