Rare Georgian wine grapes | Chitistvala & Kisi from the Tchotiashvili Family Vineyards | NinoVino

At an altitude of 450 meters above sea level, around Saniore, Georgia, an artisan winemaker, Kakha Tchotiashvili, grows some of the rarest and recognizable grape varieties, Chitistvala and Kisi. Tchotiashvili Family practices dry farming to protect wine quality and remain gentle on the environment, just like their ancestors did. Without added water, vines are encouraged to become more self-sufficient and send roots deep into the soil to find the water and nutrients it needs. An exceptional attention is given not only during vine growing but also at all stages of winemaking, which is the secret behind the uniqueness of those bottles:"As we winemakers spend a lot of time with the wine and pay a lot of attention to it, we develop unique feelings towards it. We transmit our heartfelt emotions, our love to this wine. That's why it tastes so good. Our wines are full of sunlight, full of warmth that we put into it.
