BAHAMAS — 01. FIRST TIDE Everything begins with the movement of water. First Tide opens the Bahamas Suite with its signature motif emerging into a world of light, rhythm and endless horizon. Rich strings, expressive woodwinds, warm French horns and harp form the orchestral foundation, while delicate steel pan colours, marimba and light Caribbean percussion appear within the ensemble like reflections of island life — adding colour without ever overtaking the orchestra. The music seems to move with the sea itself. Rhythms rise and fall gently. Harmonies shimmer. Orchestral textures catch the light and change as they move, while the recurring motif begins its journey through the suite — recognizable, yet already transformed by its surroundings. There is a sense of a world awakening: turquoise water beginning to move, sunlight reaching across white sand, coral beneath the surface and warm air arriving from somewhere beyond the horizon.
