Taqsim
is a musical journey by Seduki Ôrkestra, a non-permanent lineup ensemble created and directed by Davide Livornese – musician, composer, and conductor with a long-standing background in orchestral and cross-cultural music.
Rooted in the rich musical traditions of the Mediterranean and Middle East, Taqsim explores the meeting point between diverse cultures through ancient rhythms, modal melodies, and original songs sung in Sicilian dialect. These elements come together in a sound that is both grounded and exploratory.
Traditional instruments such as the Turkish oud, Afghan rabab, and Indian sitar blend with guitar, cello, and saxophone, creating a layered and resonant acoustic landscape.
Improvisation, counterpoint, and modal structures are central to the ensemble’s language – a fluid and refined expression that transcends folkloric clichés and opens up new interpretive paths.
Taqsim offers a vision of the Mediterranean as a dynamic crossroads – not bound by borders, but shaped by exchange, memory, transformation, collision, and cultural contamination.
