In 2026, Conway Scenic operated the absolute peak of their fall operations. Now regularly operating up to 7 valley trains and 3 notch trains per day, the railroad faces its busiest season, with every train throughout the system completely sold out. We'll follow trains along the notch route, featuring yellowbird engines 252, 216, and 255. We will first chase GP38s 252 and 255, the original MEC locomotives. Both 252 and 255 will turn 60 years old in November. Then when we reach Bartlett, we will follow the Budd RDC "Millie" back up to Crawford. This is the only day the RDC ran by itself; after this trip, it used a diesel helper.
Then we move a month in advance to October, where we see the GP38s joined by GP35 216, in a matching paint scheme, although not of original heritage. Additionally, this is the first trip that 255 runs with a new K3H horn. This year marked the first year that all three yellowbird engines ran on a train together.
After that, we'll watch 573 enter North Conway from a run on the valley train. Ive included timestamps so you can easily skip around in the video to see different operations
Thanks for watching, enjoy the video!
