Are our thoughts our own?

My mother's spiritual journey has been shifting lately, and watching her evolution has made me think about my own beliefs. I track some of the changes to what she watches that validate her experiences which got me thinking about how much media influences us. The world we live in now is 90% media influenced and we have seen the shift happen in different spaces. I am just reminded that we need to be careful what we allow influnce us and not forget our critical thinking.
