Another video back in IRL! We headed to Durham Station for another session of trainspotting on a Monday Morning. We were planning to go to Edinburgh in this video but due to the service we were supposed to be on, we made changes to head to Durham. Durham is a lovely place to trainspot as you see a long stretch of track from the signals to the viaduct next to the station. Cross Country and TPE mostly call here whilst LNER calls here on some services. The Edinburgh services used to call here but now pass here instead. We started in Newcastle to get some trains before we went on our Cross Country Class 220 to Durham. It is very quick to get to Durham as it only takes 10 minutes to get there.
I was worried if we were going to miss a freight train but we luckily arrived in before it passed as it was held late due to an Avanti 807 arriving late and shunting it in Merchant Park Sidings. We saw a Class 66 locomotive in a Platinum Jubilee livery to honor Queen Elizabeth II and with a Union Jack Flag which looks nice. It was heading back to Tyne Coal Terminal GBRF after shunting an Avanti Class 807 Evero in Merchant Park Sidings. We then saw a Class 70 Locomotive which passed through on its way to Millerhill S.S for a freight duty. We also seen some of the Voyagers in the newer livery in this session.
We heard there was some disruption up south of Grantham as a rail was broken and between Stevenage and London a person was hit by a train. You may have noticed why the destinations on some trains were different as they were cut short. We then headed back to Newcastle for a bit of trainspotting and saw another GBRF 66. It had another amazing livery which was 66689 'Evening Star' as it glided through after a Northern 156 departed and a LNER Azuma arriving as it glided through on the slow line. We were disappointed that we didn't go to Edinburgh in this session but we still enjoyed ourselves going to Durham. We are hoping to go on another trip somewhere next week if we can.
In this Video, we see 11 LNER Trains, 5 Northern Trains, 7 Transpennine Express Trains, 5 Cross Country Trains, 5 Northern Trains 11 LNER Trains, 2 GBRF Trains, 1 Colas Rail Train and 1 Lumo Train. Lots of action in Carlisle and Newcastle. I hope you have enjoyed this video! make sure to like and subscribe if you want more content like this!
