NC Transportation Museum: Day Out With Thomas (2026)

On September 26th, 2026, I went to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina again for their annual Day Out With Thomas, featuring Thomas on the museum’s regular passenger train and Percy on the caboose train. Both “engines” were assisted by Norfolk & Western GP7 620 and Southern FP7 6133 respectively. This marked the first time a locomotive other than SOU 2601 was used on Thomas’ consist since 2015, when 6133 had the honors. Mattel representatives and photographers were at the museum taking publicity photos for next year’s tour, so Thomas and Percy were stripped of their maddening music decals and looked normal again for the first time since 2022, which was a very welcome surprise. Overall, I had a great time seeing Thomas, Percy, and my friends again. Fun Fact: I was originally going to go to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad for DOWT this year, but I was unable to attend due to work, my trip to see UP 4014, and other things.
