The Alaska Highway has been one of the most spectacular stretches of my journey so far—and in Episode 3 of Road to Alaska, I finally follow it all the way to the Alaska border.
Starting in British Columbia, I continue north through Stone Mountain Provincial Park and into the Yukon, stopping in Whitehorse before making my way toward the Alaska border. Along the way, the Alaska Highway delivers exactly the kind of experience I had hoped for: incredible mountain scenery, remote stretches of highway, and wildlife around seemingly every corner.
I encounter a curious brown squirrel during a fuel stop, bison along the side of the Alaska Highway, mountain goats, and even two moose as I continue farther into the North American wilderness.
From the mountains of northern British Columbia to the vast landscapes of the Yukon, this part of the trip reminded me just how enormous—and beautiful—this part of the world really is.
And after nearly 5,000 miles on the road, this episode ends with a moment I've been looking forward to since I left home:
I finally make it to Alaska.
But the journey isn't over. In the next episode, I'll make my way to Haines, board the ferry for the voyage through the Inside Passage, and continue on to Sitka, where I'll finally be reunited with my son, Finn.
If you're new here, I'm Sean Boeger, and this is Boeger About. Thanks for coming along with me on the Road to Alaska.
