Living in Namibia | How 3 Million People Survive in the World's Oldest Desert | 4K Living in Namibia means living with almost no rain. Three million people share a country shaped by the oldest desert on Earth. How do they find water, earn a living and stay, generation after generation? This film follows the answer from the coast to the far north. On the Namib coast, fog brings more water than rain, and a beetle drinks it from the air. The cold Benguela Current feeds the fishing fleet of Walvis Bay; Kolmanskop was built on diamonds and swallowed by sand. Farms pump water from deep rock, and Windhoek has turned its own wastewater into drinking water since 1968. Herero women in Okahandja wear a dress over a memory of 1904-1908, when water was used as a weapon. In the north, floods arrive from Angola; in Kunene, Himba families and community rangers live beside free-roaming black rhinos.
