Part 9: Jesus Sends Me On A Rescue Mission

What happens when we stop asking, “What about me?” and start asking, “What about them?” In this message from our Kingdom Quest series, Pastor Daron reflects on a visit to Ark Encounter in Kentucky and the powerful lessons Noah’s story brings to Christians today. The biblical account of the Flood reminds us of a world that had become deeply ungodly and a people who heard God’s warning but refused to listen. Noah is described in Scripture as “a preacher of righteousness” who faithfully proclaimed God’s Word while building the ark. Jesus pointed back to Noah’s generation as a warning for us today: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man” (Matthew 24:37). The world around us needs to hear the message of sin, repentance, forgiveness, salvation, and the saving work of Jesus Christ. But this message also challenges the church. What happens when Christians become more concerned about our own preferences, traditions, comfort, resources, and attention than about people who are not yet here? Excellence in outreach, evangelism, and welcoming others requires intentionality, sacrifice, generosity, and a heart that asks, “What about them?” Jesus calls us to acknowledge him before others and proclaim what he has spoken to us. Before we speak to others, Jesus speaks to us. Before we rescue others, Jesus rescues us. Before we tell the world, “Jesus loves you,” Jesus has already told us, “I love you. I forgive you. I have others to love and forgive, and I need your help.” This is the heart of Christian evangelism and spiritual growth: receiving the love and forgiveness of Jesus and then sharing that message with others.
