Give a tower defence game a user interface in Unreal Engine 5.8 with UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics), all in Blueprints and with no code. You'll build a HUD, floating enemy health bars, a turret button that costs money and a main menu, so the game finally tells the player what is going on. In this tutorial you'll: • Add Max Health to the keep and the enemies and a Money variable to the player, with a payout for every kill • Build a HUD Widget Blueprint with the keep's health bar and the player's money, and put it on screen • Use property bindings, Format Text and Rounded Box brushes to make the bars follow the game and look right • Give every enemy a floating health bar with a Widget component that updates only when it takes damage • Add a build key and a turret button that checks your money, places a turret and shows a cooldown • Make a main menu level with Play and Quit buttons Chapters: 0:00 Introduction 0:18 Where we're headed 1:09 Numbers worth showing 4:13 Your first widget 7:11 Putting it on screen 10:05 Bars that follow the game 13:40 Make it look right 15:10 Floating health bars 18:53 A build key and a button 24:08 Buying a turret 32:28 A main menu 38:48 Wrapping up Which part of the interface would you add first to your own game: the money counter, the enemy bars or the build button?
