Was I wearing gear when I crashed? A lot of you asked after my last video, so today we’re going through what I had on that night. This is my first time properly examining these items since the accident. It hasn’t been easy to face, but sharing this is part of closing that chapter. We’ll look at the helmet, jacket, riding jeans, gloves, boots, and backpack, including the damage and where emergency responders cut my gear open to assess my injuries. I also want to be honest: I’ve taken plenty of rides in a T shirt and shorts. Conversations with nurses during my hospitalization, along with my own experience undergoing a skin graft related to compartment syndrome, gave me a different appreciation for the consequences of an accident. Protective gear matters. But even the best gear cannot prevent every broken bone or serious injury. Wearing it doesn’t make us invincible.
