In this video, we dive into recreating the stunning and immersive ‘Medusa’ installation by Sou Fujimoto x Tin Drum, originally exhibited at the London Design Festival 2021. Using a hybrid workflow of Rhino 3D and Grasshopper, we develop a parametric false ceiling inspired by the floating, light-reactive forms of the original. This is Part 1 of a two-part series: ✅ Modeling the false ceiling from scratch ✅ Parametric exploration with Grasshopper ✅ Hybrid manual + algorithmic design approach In Part 2, we’ll take this digital model into Lumion for rendering—setting the scene, applying materials, lights, and producing a high-quality final visualization. 📐 Perfect for architecture students, parametric design enthusiasts, and those looking to understand computational workflows in Rhino + Grasshopper! 🔗 Original Installation Inspiration: ‘Medusa’ by Sou Fujimoto x Tin Drum – via Design boom https://www.designboom.com/design/tin... 🛠️ Tools Used: Rhinoceros 3D Grasshopper (Visual Scripting Plugin) Lumion (Rendering - in Part 2) 📌 Subscribe and stay tuned for Part 2 – the rendering and final visualization!
