New Timing Chain, but the Evo X Won’t Start! Where’s the Compression?

This 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X had a jumped timing chain. I installed a new chain, set the timing, and tried to start the engine. But it wouldn’t fire up — there was no compression! Further testing revealed the problem: bent intake valves. I had to remove the cylinder head, replace and lap the valves, and put the engine back together.
