The first official webinar of the DRIVE Project was held on July 3, 2025, showcasing breakthroughs in deep CO₂ removal through thermal and electrochemical capture technologies.
Webinar Focus:
"Unlocking Deep CO₂ Removal Innovations in Thermal and Electrochemical Capture Technologies"
The webinar provides a comprehensive look at the technical progress, TRL advancements, and field testing results from the three key technologies under development:
🔹 CESAR1 (amine-based solvent) for thermal regeneration at RWE’s pilot plant
🔹 CODEC (direct electrochemical regeneration) developed by TNO
🔹 ZEUS (Zero Emission-Ultra Stripping) technology supported by TU/e and HOVYU
Agenda Highlights:
WP2 – Deep Removal via Thermal Regeneration
Presented by Dr. Peter Moser (RWE)
WP3 – Deep Removal via Electrochemical Regeneration
Presented by Catarina Simões (TNO) and Diego Pinto (HOVYU)
WP4 – Techno-Economic & Life Cycle Assessment (Upcoming)
Next Steps:
🔹 6-month testing campaign on solvent degradation at RWE
🔹 CODEC/ZEUS field deployment at CEMEX site in Czech Republic
🔹 Continued process optimization, emissions control, and dissemination
Funded by:
The Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) under the 2022 joint call for research proposals, co-funded by the European Commission (Grant Agreement No. 101069750).
