🔥 I CRASHED THE SKYHAWK! 🌳✈️ LEG 4 ENDED IN DISASTER | Skyhawk Across America

Leg 4 DID NOT go according to plan. 🌳✈️ N620TD departed Medina Municipal (1G5) for Grimes Field (I74) as Skyhawk Across America continued deeper into Ohio. This was supposed to be one of the most interesting flights of the journey so far. We headed across Ohio toward KOSU and the Springfield/Dayton aviation corridor, with plans to experience the area where the Wright brothers turned their early experiments into practical flight. Along the way we mixed GPS navigation, VOR work, pilotage and good old-fashioned looking out the window in the Cessna 172. The goal was to eventually work our way toward Grimes Field in Urbana and put another airport in the logbook. The weather, however, had other ideas. Conditions deteriorated as the flight progressed, forcing us to change the original sightseeing plan and concentrate on getting N620TD safely toward the destination. And then... I put the Skyhawk into a tree. 😳🌳 Yep. That happened. No editing it out. No pretending the leg was completed. And definitely no free landing in the logbook. Leg 4 is officially a DNF. But that's what makes this journey a journey. Sometimes the plan works perfectly. Sometimes weather changes everything. And sometimes...there's apparently a tree with your tail number on it. 😂 So we're going back. The next flight will be the LEG 4 REDEMPTION FLIGHT — another attempt from Medina Municipal to Grimes Field, another shot at the Ohio aviation-history route, and another chance to finish what we started. Same Cessna. Same pilot. Same destination.
