SCHUBERT Impromptu op. 142 nr. 2, in As Regina Albrink

Today, one of Franz Schubert's (1797-1828) most famous impromptus, composed in 1827 and only published after his death in 1839. The dreamy minuet-like theme, which returns later, is followed by a lovely middle section with driving triplets that refer to a hidden melody. A wonderful example of Schubert's ability to open up magical vistas through surprising modulations. Enjoy listening!
