FAS TV Series 5 Ep 3 - Outwintering & Virtual Fencing

On this week's FAS TV, we are visiting the Deeside and Strathspey monitor farms. As part of the Monitor Farm Programme, Duncan Morrison at Deeside has focussed on his outwintering system using deferred grazing and rolling out bales of forage. Whilst the Smith family at Strathspey are trialling the use of virtual fencing to graze and utilise an area of unused hill ground. Scotland’s Farm Advisory Service (FAS) is funded by the Scottish Government, providing information and resources aimed at increasing the profitability and sustainability of farms and crofts.
