Rare 1972 Racing Footage: Indy 500 Pole Day, Le Mans & Can-Am at Riverside!

Rare 1972 8mm home movies from the David Hobbs collection capture three iconic weekends of racing in one film. Shot on period 8mm, this footage offers an intimate, ground-level look at: • Indy 500 Pole Day — the speed and atmosphere of qualifying at the Brickyard • 24 Hours of Le Mans — the legendary endurance race in France • Can-Am at Riverside — big-banger prototypes thundering around the California road course These personal home movies give a unique, unpolished view of 1972 motorsport that professional coverage rarely captured. The film quality, camera angles, and ambient feel make it a fascinating time capsule from the golden age of open-wheel and sports car racing. A special thanks to the David Hobbs collection for preserving and sharing this remarkable footage.
