Hi everyone. I told you before that I’d show you how I, as a non-native speaker, film myself speaking English straight to the camera, and I’m showing you right now. ✌️ For me, it’s pretty tough. I have to redo a line many times before I can recite it smoothly. A lot of these expressions are new to me, and I can hardly remember them without enough repetition. 😮‍💨 Even though it’s really challenging, this process has helped me learn plenty of daily phrases in a short time. I never noticed these when I studied English before, so I still need more practice for conversational English. 💪 English teaching in less developed parts of China tends to be mute English. Students from this kind of system can read texts, understand listening materials and write formulaic essays, but their speaking ability is almost zero.😭 I didn’t start taking speaking seriously until I went to university. Back then, I felt really insecure about my accent for a long time. I simply couldn’t compete with students whose families or schools prioritised oral practice and gave them access to great speaking resources from an early age. I only started practising little by little later on. 💔 It’s taken nearly 10 years to get where I am now, but I’m actually pretty happy with it, haha. I’ll keep practising and hope to make more progress! When I listen to my old recordings now, I feel so cringey; they’re honestly so bad.😂 I hope you won’t really laugh at me. It took a lot of courage to share those old audios just for you guys to have a little fun! Thank you for your support! 💗💗
