Vendors calling out, the bright colors of fruits and vegetables, the quiet concentration on sellers' faces as they went about their work — this is the bustle and vitality of ordinary days, simple yet moving. Walking along the moat, time seemed to slow down. A homeless man ate his meal alone, his composure and grace undiminished — as if reminding me that dignity is never diminished by circumstance. A young man was setting up a fishing net nearby, the water rippling with light, his silhouette merging with the glimmering surface into a quiet, painterly scene. Inside the old city walls, travelers moved in steady streams, cameras raised, trying to hold onto the scenery before them. Along the streets, small groups paused here and there, taking in the old stones and timeworn corners of this ancient town. Inside and outside the walls felt like two different worlds — serenity and ease within, the rush of traffic without. Just one wall apart, yet two entirely different rhythms, two different ways of living. In the afternoon, in a little corner café, friends gathered together, laughter mingling with the scent of coffee — the city at its most relaxed. I ordered a rich latte too, bitter first, then sweet on the way down, much like the feeling of this whole journey.
