Join us for the Divine Liturgy from St. Joseph the Betrothed Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Lansing, Michigan, on the 2nd Sunday after the Holy Cross. Today’s Gospel, Luke 6:31–36, confronts us with Christ’s call to a love that reflects the very heart of God. Christ reveals the Father as the One who is “kind to the unthankful and the evil.” This divine love is not sentimental or selective — it is self‑giving, universal, and offered even where it is rejected. The Lord challenges us to imitate this love: “Be merciful just as your Father is merciful.” Today we explore: how human love often remains confined to what benefits us why Christian love must extend beyond reciprocity how prayer, fasting, and almsgiving train the heart to love as God loves the importance of spiritual guidance in shaping authentic Christian love Mother Gavrilia’s teaching that God desires not our achievements, but the quality and quantity of the love we give May this Divine Liturgy strengthen us to love God with our whole being and to love our neighbor with the same mercy we have received from Him. 📍 St. Joseph the Betrothed Melkite Greek Catholic Church Lansing, Michigan 🙏 Please like and subscribe to help others discover the beauty of the Melkite Byzantine tradition.
