After the sudden end of our Japanese honeybee journey, giant Asian hornets were still hanging around our beehive, making it difficult to work on our small farm. It wasn't an easy decision but we had to think about our family's safety and deal with the situation. Later, we headed to the beach for an afternoon surf, enjoyed a walk with our dog Rufi and stopped to mill some rice on the way home. With the hornets finally gone, Yumi was able to return to the farm and harvest some fresh okra and herbs. We made sweet potato rice with some other side dishes and enjoyed a simple family dinner. Nothing extraordinary happened but these are the little moments that make life on our remote island special.The ocean, homegrown vegetables, friendly faces and time spent together as a family.
