Learn IFS - https://ifsca.ca/courses/stepping-sto... Dick expounds on how to address an exile responding negatively to Self. He then describes the steps towards the retrieval and what to pay attention to when inviting the protective parts in, post unburdening. He likens Self-energy to Chi/Prana and is very clear that IFS is not only a psychotherapy but a "way of being in the world". He outlines the 3 goals of the work and talks about how Self can manifest. Dick describes when to use direct access in the work. Moving on to talk about more Spiritual aspects of the work, Dick talks about why Self is bot available in our early life, the difficulties of being in this “school” and the response of our guides. He talks about legacy burdens and how to release them, the question of “agency” of the Self – passive witness or active leader. He clarifies that Compassion does not need to be built, practiced or developed: it is always fully available. Dick touches briefly on the role of Self in social activism before describing the three aspects of shame and why we experience it. He finishes this section by describing how our exiles may inform our choice of partners in life if they are seeking external redemption from their shame.
