KTM Duke 890 Dirty Tricks Cam Chain Tensioner Install (instructions in description)

Video shows how to swap out the original cam chain tensioner with the Dirty Tricks tensioner. KTM tensioners use oil pressure. This is not a good system and it leads to a loose cam chain and undue wear on parts leading to major problems. The Dirty Tricks tensioner uses a spring and is much more consistent and reliable. Note: We did not put the bike to top dead center. The chain won't move unless the bike is moved or starting is attempted (so don't move it or try to start it with the tensioner out - be careful of even bumping the start button). Many people state that the bike should be at top dead center for this installation. Perhaps so. Please do what you feel is right. But, I've had no issues with the bike since this installation (I've run about 2,000 miles on it since this install) and it runs perfectly and smoothly. Installation instructions: Start of video: bike running before installation. Note the ticking and rattling. 9 sec: remove this inner nut (with an Allen wrench) then remove the outer nut (22mm). 11 sec: take out the old tensioner, save the O ring (it goes back on the new tensioner). 18 sec: Place the Dirty Tricks tensioner in the bike with it in the fully collapsed position. 26 sec: replace the larger, outer nut. 32 sec: torque outer nut to 18.4 ft lbs. 50 sec: slide the DT spring into the small nut hole and replace smaller inner nut. Torque to 5.9 ft lbs. (note: the part of the video with the spring install glitched and was removed - but the spring just slides right in) 58 sec: bike running more smoothly - a major difference!!
