Encourage Your Hearts

Look Up, Not Around — Jesus Is the One Coming SCRIPTURE: 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 CSB - May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word. The Thessalonians were shaken and disturbed because someone had convinced them they had missed the rapture and were already living through the Great Tribulation — and Paul's response was not primarily theological correction but pastoral encouragement, pointing their eyes back to Jesus and the good hope they had been given by grace. As believers, we are not called to be watchful for signs of falling away or the rise of the Antichrist, but to look for Jesus — His return is our blessed hope, and that hope is enough to steady every anxious heart. God has not appointed us to wrath but to salvation, and the same grace that saved us is the grace that provides eternal encouragement for every confusing and fearful season we face. When the world seems to be unraveling, the answer is not to look around at what is falling apart but to look up at the One who is coming back — and then to encourage one another with exactly that hope.
